Located in southwestern Illinois at the edge of the town of Edwardsville (population 20,000). Edwardsville is just a half an hour drive from St. Louis, Missouri, a major American city.
SIUE's Intensive English Program is staffed by committed individuals with advanced degrees in Teaching English as a Second Lanaguage. The program, which has had excellent results preparing students for both undergraduate and graduate work at SIUE, is designed to meet the needs of students with intermediate to advanced levels of English proficiency. The IEP emphasizes English for academic purposes and offers a full curriculum with classes in reading, academic writing, grammar, and listening and speaking skills. In addition to approximately 20 hours of classroom instruction per week, students also benefit from TOEFL preparation and cultural field trip activities.
