The University of Pennsylvania (Penn) is an Ivy League university located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. The English Language Programs at Penn is a top English language program with an accredited Intensive Program. All full-time instructors hold graduate degrees in English as a Second Language or Applied Linguistics and have extensive teaching experience. ELP offers courses in Academic, Business, and General English, and has well-equipped university classrooms and small class sizes. ELP organizes social and cultural opportunities and provides strong student support services. ELP allows students to gain exposure to the U.S. university system while being immersed in the language and culture of the U.S.
The Intensive Program (IP) assists students in improving their English language proficiency to achieve academic, professional, and personal goals. The IP offers over 40 courses across 8 levels. A variety of social and cultural services are offered to students and include planned social activities, culture hours, and field trips.
University Connection (UniConn) successfully prepares students for the challenges of the university application and admissions process. Students meet one-on-one with university admissions specialists, participate in workshops on topics related to the university application process, and are oriented to the academic expectations and culture of US universities. UniConn also assists students in improving their language proficiency and academic skills to ensure success in their degree program.
The Institute for Academic Studies provides a foundation for university-level English. Students receive an introduction to academic subjects in English and experience life and culture at a U.S. university. Guest lectures from Penn professors offer students a unique university experience.
The Institute for Business Communication assists students in improving their business knowledge and communication. By using workplace simulations based on business case studies, students enhance their professional skills. Guest lectures from Penn professors offer students a unique university experience.
The Global Citizen Study Abroad Program (GCP) is a comprehensive Ivy League study abroad program that develops the global-mindedness and competitiveness of top university students. GCP allows students to internationalize their university experience. Students receive English language instruction and access to an Ivy League undergraduate credit course.
The full Global Citizen program is offered as an 8-month program. An accelerated 4-month program is available for students with a TOEFL iBT of 87+.
The International House (I-House) offers small private single rooms grouped in suites of ten rooms. Suites have a common lounge and a large shared bathroom. Suites with kitchen areas are available.
The International House is located four blocks from the ELP.
Homestay offers ELP students the opportunity to experience American culture in the safety and comfort of an American home. Students have a comfortable, fully furnished, private bedroom.
Homestays are located around 20-30 minute walk, or 10 minute bus ride, from ELP.
With dorms at the center of campus, ELP students are able to experience a true US university living experience. Students can choose between shared and private rooms.
On-campus dorms are located three blocks from the ELP.
