Concord University offers an ESL program in the summer and during the regular academic year. The student receives instruction in reading, writing, and speaking English as well as TOEFL preparation. TOEFL practice tests are given on a regular basis. Institutional TOEFL tests are given at midterm and at the end of the program. The cost is approximately $4,500 which includes the ESL program, room, board, and books. Once the student has achieved a score of 500 on the TOEFL, a residual ACT test is given (if applicable) and the student is placed into the regular degree program. A student who has achieved a score of 450 on the TOEFL can take one class in the regular degree program in addition to classes in the ESL program. The I-20 is initially issued for a 12 month period for the ESL program. When the student receives a score of 500 on the TOEFL, an I-20 is issued for the regular degree program which is normally five years.
Students reside with more than 1,000 undergraduate students in five tradional, single-gender residence halls featuring community living areas and suites. All residential housing facilities are wired for cable television, telephone, and internet.
