Description

We are located in the heart of downtown Ottawa. Famous for its historic sites and natural beauty, Ottawa is a clean, safe, and cosmopolitan city. Just outside the schools doors, students can visit popular attractions, including Parliament Hill (the seat of Canadas government), the Rideau Canal (in winter, one of the worlds longest skating rinks), annual music festivals, museums, libraries, and hundreds of shops, restaurants and cafes. For the nature lover, there is also Gatineau Park, where one can hike, bike, or ski over endless trails or swim in pristine lakes. And for weekend trips, students can easily visit other large urban centres like Montreal and Toronto.

Combining a communicative approach with cooperative and multimedia-based learning, our programs impart the fundamentals of English and give students the confidence and know-how needed to use English in real life situations (e.g., work, school, leisure, etc.). Enrolment is limited to ten students per class, which ensures greater participation and individualized instruction. Conversation is a predominant element of our approach and emphasis is given to quickness of speech and spontaneity over passive acquisition or rote learning. This ensures that students are able transfer their knowledge of theory into effective communication. Homework and task-based assignments are also given to reinforce learning and test understanding. In our general beginner, intermediate, and advanced programs, students gain proficiency in speaking, listening, reading, and writing. At the higher levels, students can select classes devoted to specific language skills (e.g., writing, speaking/listening, etc.) or situations (e.g., business, research, academe, etc). In addition, our very popular TOEFL preparation course is well noted for preparing students for the rigours of the TOEFL exam and academic life, in general. Customized programs are also available. We provide a professional training environment that both respects and celebrates differences in language, culture, and history. Our students come from a wide variety of countries (e.g., Mexico, Germany, Libya, Venezuela, Saudi Arabia, Columbia, China, Poland, Japan, Korea, etc.) and such a mixture guarantees rewarding class discussions and cultural exchange. Furthermore, students leave our programs with a greater familiarity with Canadian culture, people, and customs.
