Description

Ames, Iowa is a small city of about 45,000. It is located in the agricultural center of the United States. The people are friendly, the schools are excellent, and the atmosphere is peaceful and safe. The airport is located 35 miles (56km) south of Ames in the state's capital city, Des Moines.

IEOP offers a 15-week program in the fall and in the spring, an 8-week program in the summer, and a 6-week program usually beginning about the middle of March. Students receive 20-25 hours of classroom and computer instruction. A Language Learning Center is available to students who want additional study. IEOP has six levels of instruction: beginning (1), low intermediate (2), intermediate (3), high intermediate (4), high (5) and advanced (6). Students in levels 5 and 6 may take a university course for credit.

IEOP students usually live in university dormitories with American students. There are University apartments for married students and families too. Students may also choose to live in an apartment off campus.
