Program Description

Our 5-level curriculum is designed to prepare students to study at an American college or university as well as help develop the skills needed in professional settings. Elective Courses such as TOEFL Preparation, International Business, English Through Movies, Volunteering (learning through direct experience), Speak Naturally (making films in the Summer),and Creative Writing are offered. Our most advanced level includes supervised visitations (audits) to regular university classes.

On-campus dormitories or apartments. Apartments usually require waiting lists. Housing is arranged through the UESL Program. ESL students usually can have American roommates.

location information:

Ellensburg is a small, safe university town in a peaceful farming valley near the Cascade Mountains and the Yakima and Columbia Rivers in central Washington state- only 2 hours from Seattle by bus or car. Central Washington University has about 8,000 students on a beautiful campus with a friendly atmosphere. There is a jazz festival in July and a famous rodeo and county fair at the end of August.

Applications are accepted year-round. Housing information is included in application packets. Quarters begin in late September, early January, late March, and mid-June.
