Intensive English Language Institute
Program Description:
The Intensive English Language Institute at Midwestern State University offers 8 levels of English courses, with classes in Grammar, Listening and Speaking, Reading, and Composition. We offer five eight-week terms per year. Our primary focus is preparing students for university study. We offer a rigorous academic English language program for a reasonable price. We also offer additional classes that focus on special topics. For example, this summer we are offering Culture to Go!, a class based on short trips in the local area that provide students with opportunities to listen to and speak with native speakers while they learn about American culture, history, technology, and the area in which they live, and Why Can’t They Understand Me?!?., a class designed to help students with pronunciation and understanding American English. The special topics classes are offered at an additional fee.

housing/meals: with private room and 14 meals per week, approx. $4000, but shared accommodations are much less expensive

On campus students may choose from dormitories or shared apartments. Students who wish to live off campus can take advantage of a special rate for international student at a nearby apartment complex.

Wichita Falls is a small city in North Texas. We have an average of 240 sunny days per year. The average high temperature in July is 98 F, and the average low temperature in January is 28 F. There is a strong international community in Wichita Falls due, in part, to the influence of nearby Sheppard Air Force Base.
