Program Description

ELI offers intensive 8-week sessions for students of low intermediate to advanced ability. Classes meet for 25 hours a week and average 10 students. In addition to classes in the language skill areas, students participate in thematic workshops such as newsletter writing and TV listening. Students may begin their studies at any time of the year and continue for as long as they wish or until they graduate. Teachers are friendly and supportive, and trips are arranged for fun and introduction to local culture.

Students 17 to 21 must live on-campus in dormitories. Students under 17 or who have not graduated from high school must arrange for suitable approved housing off-campus. Students over 21 may live on campus or in apartments nearby.

ELI is on the seaside campus of the University of Bridgeport in Connecticut. Bridgeport is about 1 hour train ride from New York City, 1/2 hour from New Haven, the location of Yale University, and 3 hours from Boston.
