English as a Second Language Program:

Intermediate Level -

Taking our intermediate-level class will help you build speaking, listening, grammar and vocabulary skills. Students will have a chance to practice their English skills in a friendly and supportive environment.

Students will learn a variety of tenses and will improve their understanding of the differences and time relationships between the past simple, present perfect (continuous) and present simple tenses.

Instruction is focused on highlighting students’ abilities and allowing them to learn at their own pace. The goals of the class include helping students develop language skills beyond survival needs, and function independently in most situations.

Upper-Intermediate Level -

Taking our upper-intermediate class will help you excel in your writing, reading, speaking, listening, grammar and vocabulary skills. The class is sized so every student gets a chance to have one on one time with the teacher and has the opportunity to work with different classmates to build on their skills. This helps in creating a motivational and encouraging atmosphere.

Each class week is devoted to a specific grammar point and theme. For example, one week students may review adjective clauses and discuss friendship. The next week may be phrasal verbs and hobbies.

Each class hour is also focused on a different skill. The morning is usually dedicated to grammar, vocabulary and listening and the afternoon hours tend to cover writing, reading and speaking. Resources used are not only the textbook, but handouts, songs, games, newspaper articles and TV programs, and movies.

Advanced Level -

Taking our advanced class will help you reach your goal of complete fluency. We focus on bringing all the elements of the English language together to create a well-rounded speaker who can easily and creatively read, write, listen, debate, converse, analyze, and much more.

The advanced class is where specifics come into play. We dive into the complexities of grammar and focus on mastering all tenses and the use of irregulars.

We use current articles from American publications like The Week, The Economist, and The New York Times to learn new vocabulary and to get a broader understanding of American culture and politics.

Our lessons incorporate real-life situations and material to prepare students for anything. They listen to American songs, TV shows, movies, podcasts, interviews and more. A focus is made on having a variety sources for teaching material. Students, also, work on perfecting their pronunciation. We always do fun speaking activities that focus on using correct pronunciation.
