Creighton University is located near the downtown area of Omaha, Nebraska. Omaha, a city of 350,000 people, is the center of a metropolitan area of approximately 625,000 people. Metropolitan Omaha is the major urban area between Chicago and Denver, and between Kansas City and Minneapolis. Agricultural business, insurance, railroads, and telecommunications are important parts of Omaha's economy. Omaha is accessible by air, rail and 2 major interstate highways.

The IELI offers five 8-week terms and one 5-week term per year. There are 7 levels of instruction in reading, writing, listening, and speaking. There is also a computer lab. Advanced students may enroll as part-time students in the university while taking 1 or 2 IELI classes. Conditional acceptance into the university is possible.
