English Language Institute-Texas A&M University

Program Description

The English Language Institute (ELI) at Texas A&M University offers you the opportunity to develop your language skills while you participate in university life on the campus of a world-famous American university. Established in 1974, ELI offers a wide range of activities designed to develop your English language abilities and an exciting array of courses and laboratory resources designed to help you speak, read, listen, and write in English. The ELI is one of only 46 U.S. intensive English programs accredited by the Commission on English Language Program Accreditation (CEA), a not-for-profit corporation, focusing on the accreditation of English language programs in the United States. CEA has been recognized by the United States Department of Education (USDE) National Advisory Committee on Institutional Quality and Integrity (NACIQI),which is advisory to the Secretary of Education. Our program is affiliated with other professional organizations such as: University and College Intensive English Programs (UCIEP), a consortium of university and college intensive English programs, the American Association of Intensive English Programs (AAIEP), a professional organization with standards and self- study issues, liaison with overseas advisors, and interaction with other professional organizations, and the Association of International Educators (NAFSA), an organization which promotes the exchange of students and scholars to and from the United States.
