Program Description

The Rice University Intensive English Program provides a challenging course of study for working professionals and students preparing for university study or professional programs. Classes are small, with an average of ten students, and are offered at beginning through advanced levels. Students from more than 40 countries have attended the program, established in 1978. Six, seven-week sessions are offered yearly.

tuition: New students: $1,420 plus a $60 testing and registration fee. Continuing students: $1,370 for students enrolling by the discount deadline.

housing/meals: Students make their own arrangements for housing and meals.

Students are responsible for making their own housing arrangements. Moderately priced facilities are generally available.

Houston, the fourth largest city in the US, has a metropolitan population of more than three million. The city has an international airport, museums, the opera and the symphony, festivals, theaters, concerts, sporting events, outstanding restaurants, one of the world's foremost medical centers and many other attractions. The NASA Johnson Space Center is nearby and Galveston's beaches, less than an hour away, afford many recreational opportunities.

application information:

Classes begin in early January, March, June, September and late October or early November. Those applying must have graduated from secondary school. Applicants must submit a completed application along with a $500 deposit which is applied toward tuition.
