Program Description

The English Language Institute is an intensive English program designed to help international students attain the English proficiency necessary to enter a college or university in the United States. It is also suitable for individuals who may wish to learn English for business or personal reasons. There is an average enrollment of one hundred students from twenty-five to thirty different countries each semester. Programs can also be designed to meet the needs of special groups.

Whether you prefer apartments, single or double rooms or traditional style living, OSU has something for you. Over 4, 700 single students call one of OSU's nineteen residence halls home. Both nine and twelve month contracts are available, and all of the halls offer continuous housing throughout the academic year. Just one bill includes your rent, meals (if you carry meal plan), all utilities including electricity, water, sewer, local digital phone service, cable TV, in room computer connections, and 24 hour maintenance. Handicapped accessible units are available in each hall. Each hall has its own personality and culture. Oklahoma State University, with its various campuses and branches, is the largest university in the state of Oklahoma. It is located in Stillwater, a community of nearly forty thousand, and is served by airports in Oklahoma City and Tulsa. Each city is an hour's drive from Stillwater.

application information:

Any person with a high school diploma or its equivalent is eligible for admission to the English Language Institute. Previous English study is not required. English proficiency requirements for admission to Oklahoma State University are 500 (paper-based) or 173 (computer-based) TOEFL for undergraduates and 550 or more (paper-based) or 213 (computer- based) for graduates, depending on the area of study. Admission to the English Language Institute does not constitute admission to Oklahoma State University. To pursue an academic degree program at OSU, students will need to complete the separate undergraduate or graduate application process.
