We have a variety of classes: The Standard Class, Business, TOEFL and Private English lessons to people from around the world. We also offer: a flexible schedule, so students can join any Monday; a student can study for as short a time as one week or as long as one year; all classes are taught by native speakers, Certified in TESL/TEFL and/or with Degrees in English and we are located in one of the nicest neighborhoods in Seattle--Fremont--just a 15 minute bus ride to downtown.
The Standard Class
Monday-Friday 9:30-11:30 Break 11:10-12:30
This course focuses on integrating language skills: speaking, listening, grammar, vocabulary, reading writing and pronunciation. Upon arrival students are given a placement test to assess their level. There are three levels: Beginning, Intermediate and Advanced. A 68% test average is necessary to graduate to a higher level of study.

Levels:
Beginner 100-103
A beginning sequence covering: basic grammar, Survival English (how to take a bus, order in a restaurant, ask for help, go to the post office or bank, etc.) small talk, pronunciation and acquisition of basic vocabulary.
Intermediate 200-203
Students improve their fluency in written as well as spoken English. Students reinforce essential structures such as verb tenses and prepositions as well as refine their command of idiomatic speech.
Advanced 300-303
Students focus on mastering discussion skills and idiomatic speech while learning to incorporate complex grammar forms such as conditionals, perfect tenses and articles. Supplementary “Real World” materials such as newspapers, magazine articles and videos are used at this level.
*If a student places at a level in which there are no other students, Seattle Language Academy reserves the right to assign the student to the class nearest their level or convert the group class hours to Private Lessons.
Standard Program and Study Lab
Monday-Friday 9:30-11:30 Break 11:10-12:30 lunch 1:30-2:30
This program incorporates the Standard course in the morning. Study Lab is designed to give students additional time to work on homework, listening skills or use the computers and video/audio equipment. This is a monitored class, not taught—attendance is taken, but students study independently.

This program incorporates the Standard course in the morning. Private lessons are one to one; one student--one teacher. These lessons can be designed by the student and teacher depending on the student’s needs. Lessons can be academic, business, or conversation practice only.

Business Conference Class
Monday-Friday 1:30-3:00
The Business class can be combined with the Standard Course in the morning or be taken separately. The class is designed for 3-5 students and covers the protocol of business meeting, correspondence, presentations, telephone, and business idioms. Career/employment, interviews and resumes are also popular areas for business study. Field trips can be taken to major Seattle companies such as Amazon or Starbucks.
TOEFL
Monday-Friday 1:30-3:00
The TOEFL class can be combined with the Standard Course in the morning or be taken separately. Students take an initial diagnostic test to assess what areas they need to concentrate on. The class is designed around Longman’s TOEFL Preparation Book CBT and requires at least two computer hours per week. Emphasis is placed on the usage of the TOEFL Test-specific software and test taking strategies and shortcuts are taught as well. Students evaluate their score weekly with practice tests.

We are located in a pleasant area in Seattle 15 minutes by bus from downtown. We are near most major bus lines. Our neighborhood is safe and clean with a shopping area and tourist attractions nearby.
application information:
Students should apply 1-2 weeks in advance. A tuition deposit is collected with the application. This is later deducted from the tuition.
