Faulkner University English Language Institute

Program Description

Faulkner University’s English Language Institute (ELI) provides its Intensive English Program (IEP) for non-English speaking students to learn the academic language and study skills necessary for studying in American colleges or for future employment. Given that students registering for the program will enter at varying degrees of English proficiency, an initial placement test is required of all students to determine the class level appropriate for them. This test will be required each time a student progresses from a lower-level classification to a more advanced level. The program focuses on the language skills of: listening and speaking, reading and writing, and grammar. Elective courses are also provided to address the special needs of students in areas such as TOEFL preparation, Business English, Academic Vocabulary, and Pronunciation Skills.
