Program Description

The WESL Institute is one of only 50 ESL programs in the U.S. to be recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as meeting the highest standards for ESL programs, through the Commission on English Language Program Accreditation(CEA). WESL Institute provides a program in academic English for students preparing to enter an American college or university. Students attend classes 20-23 hours per week and develop skills in reading, writing, listening and speaking, and develop academic, social and cross-cultural skills needed for university work. Teachers are experienced professionals with advanced degrees and average 10 years experience in teaching ESL at WESL.

Macomb, 20,000 population, is 373 kilometers southwest of Chicago, 243 kilometers north of St. Louis, and 68 kilometers from the Mississippi River. It is a friendly, safe city which provides a positive study environment.

application information:

Applications are accepted year-round, but should be submitted at least 60 days before the start of the session to allow time to get the visa. Students submit application with $30 fee and financial affidavit. WESL application link is on the WESL web site.
