American English Language Institute

Stephen F Austin State University offers international students deluxe accommodation in apartments on the university campus. Most apartments are two-bedroom units, and each student is accommodated in a private (single) bedroom. Each apartment is heated and air-conditioned and equipped with a private bathroom, a kitchen and a living area. Amenities include a stove, refrigerator, basic cable television connection, and local telephone service. The housing fee includes all utility fees (eg. electricity, air conditioning.) There are laundry facilities in each apartment building. The apartment complex is conveniently located on the university campus. It is a 10-minute walk to the College of Liberal Arts, where the American English Language Institute is located. Health and recreational facilities, computer labs, the university library, University Center, and most campus amenities are also within a 10-minute walking distance. The special package for international students includes rent (with all utilities) and 20 meals per week on the university campus. Students may take their meals in any of several cafeterias or campus restaurants.

The AELI is located in the Piney Woods of East Texas.

All students who wish to be admitted to the American English Language Institute must have a high school diploma or its equivalent. A completed application for admission to the AELI must include: an application form (The Application includes a Certification of Finances statement, which is required for a visa); a diploma or certificate from high school or highest level of education; a $40 nonrefundable application fee(US check, international bank draft, or money order made payable to "American English Language Institute"); TOEFL score report, if available (350 minimum recommended). Students are encouraged to complete the application form as soon as possible since the number of places in each program level is limited. Successful applicants will be sent a letter of acceptance and a Certificate of Eligibility (I-20 form) by express mail. The I-20 form is required in order to apply for a visa at the nearest US consulate. Successful applicants will be required to confirm their acceptance of admission and to send a $300 deposit (for admission and housing) within 30 days of their acceptance. The deposit is not refundable. We will not be able to reserve places for students who do not submit the required deposit in timely fashion.
