English as a Second Language Intensive English Program- The Alabama Language Institute (ALI), part of Gadsden State Community College, has been providing high quality English language training to students from around the world since 1973. It is a multi-level curriculum offering intensive English language instruction to students wishing to gain a functional command of English in order to prepare for a successful academic experience in a U.S. college or university, to obtain an adequate score on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), and to improve English language skills for professionals in the workplace. Using modern technology and a variety of classroom teaching methods, Alabama Language Institute aims to provide a nurturing environment conducive to learning, where students can reach their full potential. Housing is provided in the residence hall on campus. Students are housed comfortably two to a suite with sufficient storage space. Laundry facilities are provided in the dorm. Students will need to have the following bed linens: 2 bed sheets, 1 bed pillow, and 1 bed blanket. They may bring other items that will make the room like home. Apartments and other types of housing arrangements are near the campus students can obtain a housing list from the International Student Affairs Office. The College housing adheres to the 1968 Civil Rights Act regarding discrimination in its facilities.
